How do Grades Convert to the U.S. System?

In the United States the most common grade point system used is called a 4.0 scale. In a 4.0 scale grade are awarded points based on the grade received for the class.

The typical US grades look like:
A = 4pts

B = 3pts

C = 2pts

D = 1pt

F = 0

A weighted grade point average gives more weight to courses that carry a higher credit value.
